Amazing Grace, based on the life of antislavery pioneer William Wilberforce, is directed by Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough, Coal Miner's Daughter) from an original screenplay written by Academy Award® nominee Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things).

Elected to the House of Commons at the age of 21, and on his way to a successful political career, Wilberforce, over the course of two decades, took on the English establishment and persuaded those in power to end the inhumane trade of slavery...

10 Wonderful Months

Nathan turned 10 months old this week and now thinks he is a big boy. We had his big boy car seat in the house this week and he loved to play in it and show us how big he is. I love to watch him grow and explore. Before I know it he will be celebrating his 1st birthday......

Court Update

The next critical date for court has come. Monday Feb. 26th. This is the trial that should terminate mom's rights and allow us to adopt her. D'Anne (Keri's mom) has agreed to sign the termination paperwork and supposedly sent it in on Friday the 16th. Please pray that everything goes good on Monday and also pray that Keri accepts the adoption and understands what it means.

Baths

Who is the naughty little boy that has decided he wants to stand in the bath? Hmmmm.....Nathan!! The last couple of times bath time has not been fun. Nathan gets so furious with us when we won't let him stand. So needless to say bath time is now in and out.

Kayla Update

First off I want to say thank you to all of you who are praying for Kayla.

I tried to call Kayla this morning and was told by her mom that things are not going good. Kayla is having a very hard time with the depression, ADD, and being confined to a very small room. Still no seizures, which is amazing, she would usually have at least 1 every day. They have taken her off all meds and maybe that has to do with the seizures. Anyway she does not like being there and wants to go home. The doctors will not give her a release date until they feel they have all the information they need. I will update later........

Kayla Update

Just talked to Kayla and she has not had a seizure yet. She is struggling with being in the hospital and very depressed. She will have to remain in the hospital until the doctors have seen her go through a certain number of seizures so they can gather enough information. Please continue to pray that Kayla's attitude and patience during this process improves. Thank you to all of you out there that are praying for her. God can work in miraculous ways and we should never under estimated the power of pray and healing.

We also went to Emma's (David's niece) 1st Birthday Party this weekend. The pic is of Emma (in the pink dress on the floor) with her cousins and friends.

Sleep over and Nascar

This weekend was full of sleep overs and of course Nascar. Keri had her friend from school Sam over Friday night. They had a blast playing with Nathan and just simply being girls.

Sunday came and of course David and Nathan were dressed for the occasion. My dad bought Nathan a Kasy Kahne (Daddy's favorite driver) hat before he was even born. It was so cute to see my men in the racing hats!

Prayers.....

Please keep in your prayers my niece Kayla who is 15 and is going to U of M for a week long EKG to monitor her brain waves. Kayla has had seizures since she has been 3 months old and they are continuously getting worse. They are trying to determine what the cause of them are and if brain surgery will be needed to repair any damage. Kayla is extremely scared. She is aware of the danger that the surgery can cause. Please pray that she has peace and comfort during the whole situation and pray for wisdom for the doctors to determine what is causing these seizures.

9 Months

Wow is all I can say. Where has the time gone. From only a dream and many prayers,to the little baby in my arms to my big man on the block, God is amazing. To have given this true miracle to us. Thank You!


At his 9 month check up he weighed in at 18lbs 4ozs (30%) and 29 1/2" long (95%). The doctor said you were healthy as can be. What a great thing to hear.

My Mischief Boy & My Busy Girl.

The last month has been a busy one. Nathan has decided to investigate and destroy everything. He loves to clean out his diaper bag (shame on mommy for leaving it on the floor) .

Nathan is not the only one that has kept us busy. Keri has been keeping us on our feet also. From girl scouts to Wednesday night to church to roller skating party for school the running never stops.

I can finally say that we have gone 1 week without anyone being sick in our house. YA HOOOOO!!!! But of course it was short lived. Nathan now has a wonderfull cold.

Court Update

Here is an update since our last court appointment on Jan 3rd.

The 3rd was supposed to be the trial to terminate D'Anne (Keri's Mom) rights. We got there at 9:00 and the attorneys all meet in the judges chambers for a meeting. After an hour of sitting in the hallway they came back out and said it was postponed since Keri's therapist did not show and the fact that D'Anne's attorney wanted more time to talk to her.

I guess I should have told you that on Thursday before court D'Anne called my mom and told us that she is willing to sign off on the termination paperwork.

With that said the court is now sending her the paper work to sign off on and is re-scheduling the trial. If she returns the paperwork by the trial date it will be more or less a done deal. If the paperwork is not returned then we will proceed with the trial. Our attorney did say that the judge is pushing for the termination and he did say that the extra time that this is taking right now will be deducted from the adoption process time.

I have to say that we serve a wonderful God and he has been taking care of us during this whole process. Just when we think things are getting worse he gives us a glimmer of light.....

Christmas 2006

Happy Birthday Jesus!

What an awesome morning. Woke up at 5:30 to open presents then headed to Ma & Pa Hondorp's at 8:00 for Christmas with them, then off to my mom and dad's house at 1:00. The kids where spoiled rotten and received so many good things. But the most wonderful thing happened that morning. As we where getting ready to open presents at home Keri asked if she could say a pray. Of course I said yes and was already crying. She prayed for all the people that were in Heaven and not with there family's. She is one remarkable little girl. God works in the most amazing ways!!!

Christmas Eve

Traditions... Every since David and I have been together we spend Christmas Eve with our parents. It is so wonderful when our parents have become such close friends. This year it was very important to have them around since it is the first Christmas without my brother. My dad gave my mom a very special gift this night. It was a mother and child necklace with my brothers birth stone in it. He gave it to her and said that she will always have Greg close to her heart. Needless to say there was not a dry eye in the room.

What a week!!!

Sorry for the delay in the post, but I have a good excuse.

The Friday before Christmas I picked Nathan up from my In laws. When I got there I noticed that Nathan felt a little warm so when I got home I took his temp, 101.8. Figuring that we have a long weekend ahead, I best call the doctor now. 3:30 called the dr. and they said bring him in. They did chest x-rays and figured he had RSV. So the dr. took a swap of the nose and said she would call on Saturday if positive. Saturday came and we had the Hondorp Family Christmas party and we just got home when we received the call, It's Positive for RSV. So we have had to give him breathing treatments every six hours all week long. Nathan has been a trooper through this all. He wants to just sit on mom's lap all day.

CHRISTmas is in the Air!

Tis the season for Christmas tree's, shopping, cards and party's. Trying to get a picture of the 2 kids together seems impossible. Nathan and his runny nose just looks awful in the pics and Keri with the glare of the flash, needless to say I have not found a good pic yet.

We also had the Burgess X-mas party on Saturday and Nathan and Emma looked so cute. Emma loved pushing Nathan around in his walker. This was Nathan's first time opening a present. He Loved It!!! He was so excited when he opened the gift.

1st's

This entry is the of first's. Nathan had a busy couple of weeks. His first Thanksgiving, the first time he held his own bottle, heard the word "NO NO", and of course the first snow fall. Nathan is now 7 months old and become a very smart little boy. He has learned to do the army crawl and can get any where he wants. Sorry I have not blogged in awhile but things here in the hondorp house have been busy. For those of you who have not heard our court date for Keri was moved from the 27th of Nov to Jan 3rd. Keri's mom has asked for a court appointed attorney
and so they had to move the date. According to

our attorney the outcome should not change and

hopefully we will be able to adopt Keri in June.

What's for Dinner?

Nathan decided he wanted to wear his supper instead of eating it!
